Camper Trailer built, van resheeted and our leave approved. All systems are now go for our 3 year adventure. The final few months of 2007 did not improve greatly, with what seemed like a million last minute jobs to be attended to, but we did manage to finally get out of the house and 'On the Road' at last. Arranging a big trip like ours is a lot of work and takes a bucket load of organising. It's a bit like planning for a wedding. After the event you look back and wonder why it all took so long! For both Chris and myself our last day at school was mixed emotions of excitement and sadness. We were both spoilt with gifts and good wishes and are both very lucky to work with such great people, all of whom we will miss. Now this might sound a little odd but we still have the occasional 'Are we doing the right thing?' thoughts (a bit late now for that I guess). Who could believe that it is nearly the end of 2007. For the Parfitts it has been a very busy 8 months since we arrived home. So what has it been like? We had been pre-warned by other travelers. who arrived home before us, what we should expect. While we braced ourselves for settling in troubles we are pleased to say it all went smoothly. It was actually nice to get back to school and to see everybody again. Both my school and Chris's made us feel very welcome and appeared to miss us. Alex slipped back into school really well and being in year 4 instead of 5 has caused no problems. At first he hung around with his mates in year 5 but now doesn't see them as much and has made some really good friends in year 4. How adaptable are kids. He loves his teacher  and is going great guns. All reports are that a year on the road did him no harm. Surprise, surprise.   Sunshine Coast Continued The weather did improve slightly for part of our last week at Cotton Tree and we did manage a few trips to the beach. As far as the weather goes this was the wettest and coldest Christmas we have experienced for many years. Of course in true Parfitt tradition, we didn't let the weather dampen our enthusiasm. It sure was a busy old week. We did a quick dash to Brisbane to see Ken, Sue and the girls for lunch. They had planned to come up the coast for the day but you guessed it, it rained so we thought they would have more room in their house than our van on a wet and windy day. We had a lovely day and it was great to see them again. Harry spent most of his 3 weeks at Cotton Tree at either Trevor and Desley's or over at Jim and Jenny's (our neighbours in the caravan park).
